Good 'ol days

Why does it always feel like the world was better back in the day? How far ago was back in the day?

"I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them." - Andy Bernard, The Office

After the almost apocalyptic pandemic that made the world stand still back in 2020, history has been divided into two. Pre-Pandemic Era and Post-Pandemic Era. In fact, keeping aside the horrible nature of the pandemic and the havoc it caused, I might be one of the few who sort of liked the whole quarantine days.

Being an introvert, do you want me to stay indoors without social contact? I am game!

Everything before March of 2020 seems like a completely different timeline. As if we chaotically slipped from one universe to another in a volatile multiverse.

They do seem like the good old days. 2020 was a year of change for me. I got married, friends moved away to distant lands and ending up losing touch.

But it has been great. I have grown a lot as a person in these past 4 years. I learned a lot about life and relationships.

Maybe the whole point of the good old days is that it is always in the past. Days become good old when you move on and look back. That is why we never know when we are in the good old days.

Today is also a good old day, you just haven't moved far enough to notice that.
